As mentioned on our welcoming screen, we have settled on the BetOnMarkets.com as our trading platform of choice to place our fixed-odds financial trading orders. There are lots of others out there, but we’ve had excellent service and support with BetOnMarkets and have yet to find a compelling reason to switch. Here is a somewhat edited overview, using material I found at their site...
About BetOnMarkets.com
BetOnMarkets.com enables you to customise, in real time, your own fixed odds digital trades on the movements of financial markets. Not only can you choose your potential winnings and the expiry date of your trade, but your level of risk (the price of your trade) is also clearly defined from the outset.
With BetOnMarkets.com you can profit from rising, falling and sideways moving markets, without purchasing a single stock or share. There is an automated trade purchasing facility enabling you to price and order trades in advance; as well as automated 'triggers' and 'limit orders', so that you can take your profits early and limit your potential losses.
At BetOnMarkets.com security is considered a vitally important issue. There is a commitment to making sure your transactions are secure and any information provided is protected. Their servers use the latest secure technology to put your information into code that can only be seen by you and your internet browser. All credit card details are submitted directly to the Visa/Mastercard network and are encrypted. No credit card numbers are stored.
The BetOnMarkets.com betting interface is easy to use and understand. It is packed with information to help you decide on your strategy. BetOnMarkets.com offers trades on major currencies, indices and stocks, up, down, sideways, intraday and long term.
You’ll find plenty of additional information about the services provided by BetOnMarkets.com and how to implement global market trades at their web site. To help you get started though, we’ve borrowed a few graphics from them and offer our own introduction to some simple bets that you can place.
Trades
The doubles are a great way to start. Simply decided whether the market of your choice is going to rise or fall by the end of the trading day. It’s a simple double-or-nothing bet.
The intradays are very similar, but you can reduce your time frame even further. You decide when to place the bet and also when you expect to find the market higher or lower — all within the same trading day. These bets are definitely something to consider when there are significant media events that happen at specific times of day, such as central bank interest rate adjustments, or economic news that can significantly affect currencies.
If you don’t have the time to be sitting on the edge of your seating waiting for outcomes within a single trading day, you’ll probably prefer an expiry bet. You pick a level for your chosen stock, index, currency or commodity, and when you feel that it will reach that level. Your timeframe can be 5-180 days.
Bets of this kind put you more in the league of a short-term trader.
Touch bets are the last ones we’ll mention here. You can read about the others at the BetOnMarkets.com web site.
The general term for these bets is “boundary trades”, since the payout is based on whether the value of your chosen instrument does or does not touch a predetermined barrier before the close of the trading day selected. Like Expiry bets you can select a range of 5-180 days. The significant difference is that one touch is enough. The level of your chosen vehicle doesn’t have to stay beyond there at the end of your time window. So, in essence, you can redeploy your winnings elsewhere before expiry.
So, there you have it. Our quick-and-dirty intro to some bets that should get you started. There are a number of other types available as well, bet we’d encourage you to start out with some of these first, until you get comfortable with the process and your degree of comfort and success.
